Number of species: 42
Submitted by: Gailon Brehm and Rodney Thomas
Notes: More than 20 people were in attendance. The count represents the annual breeding bird survey for the Connemara Meadow Preserve. A good cross section of species was observed. Mississippi Kite, seen after the group left, will hopefully breed at the meadow as well. Also observed were three Texas Rat Snakes, a Red-eared Pond Slider turtle, an Eastern Cottontail rabbit and Eastern Fox Squirrels. A dead American Beaver and two dead Rough Green Snakes were seen as well.

Number of species: 45
Submitted by: Gailon Brehm and Rodney Thomas
Notes: A great mix of experienced and new birders. Everyone saw something of interest. The best sightings were Blue-Headed Vireo and Rusty Blackbirds plus good views of a Coopers Hawk with a blackbird in its talons. The eastern fox squirrel was the only other vertebrate seen. Several species of butterflies were seen but not identified.
