Current Volunteer Opportunities

Conservation Stewardship
Work with our Land Committee and land owners to protect critical natural landscapes in North Texas.
  • Provide legal advice for crafting easement agreements (legal experience required)
  • Draft conservation easements (legal experience required)
  • Provide guidance on real estate transactions (real estate experience required)
  • Provide tax advice for conservation easements (tax experience required)
  • Monitor existing conservation easement properties (experienced naturalists needed)
  • Develop Land Management Plans to promote the natural values of conserved properties (experienced naturalists needed)
  • Create baseline surveys for new conservation easements (experienced naturalists needed)
  • Research appropriate conservation criteria in overall service area
  • Collect and analyze GIS data to identify critical landscapes remaining in our service area (GIS experience needed)
  • Create archive of past easement activity for each easement

Environmental Restoration and Education
Work in our Meadow Nature Preserve to study the recovery of natural systems
and educate others about those natural systems.
  • Survey existing flora and fauna
  • Conduct guided nature walks (birds, wildflowers, habitats)
  • Work with our restoration committee to monitor the changes in natural systems after the termination of agriculture
  • Work with local schools to conduct experiential learning opportunities
  • Develop curriculum materials for environmental learning
  • Conduct trail maintenance and general clean-up
  • Monitor the preserve for violations of use policies
  • Serve as an ambassador for visitors to the Meadow Preserve

Creative - Design and Photography
Work with our Outreach Committee on various promotional materials.
  • Create upcoming member newsletters (using Adobe InDesign CS)
  • Design invitations for upcoming events
  • Recommend updates to our website
  • Design brochures and other outreach materials
  • Photograph events for members and the general public
  • Photograph our Meadow Nature Preserve
  • Photograph our board members and landowners

Outreach - Marketing and Communication
Work with our Outreach Committee to increase our understanding of stakeholder communities
and develop materials to reach those constituents.
  • Research published materials for existing messaging (brand analysis)
  • Develop timeline of past milestones (brand management)
  • Develop archive of Connemara's published materials
  • Identify and profile target audiences (market analysis)
  • Assess awareness and attitudes of our organization and mission among target audiences (market analysis)
  • Develop messaging for target audiences (promotion)
  • Assist in preparing recommendations for our strategic marketing plan (planning)
  • Develop relationships with various media contacts
  • Write press releases about our successes and events
  • Develop and deliver presentations for various stakeholder groups
  • Write articles for newsletter

Fundraising
Work with our Fundraising Committee to increase funding of Connemara Conservancy's capacity
and conservation efforts.
  • Assist with fundraising campaign preparation
  • Maintain donor database
  • Identify potential individual, corporate, and in-kind donors
  • Solicit individual, corporate, and in-kind donors
  • Assist with grant applications
  • Organize and manage a fundraising event

Work with our Staff, Board, and other volunteers to develop individuals' contributions to our conservation work.
  • Be a mentor to another volunteer

  • Assist with filing
